Disasterpeace

Intriguing the world since 2004, Disasterpeace (also known as Richard Vreeland) is an American musical composer most renowned for his accomplishments in the chiptune genre and film score compositions. Rising to global prominence after composing the soundtrack for the 2012 critically-acclaimed Polytron Corporation game FEZ, Disasterpeace has quickly made a name for himself as one of the eminent voices among the electronic music community, following up such success with a similarly well-lauded soundtrack for the Heart Machine game Hyper Light Drifter in 2016.

Most known in osu! for his works from Bit.Trip Presents Runner 2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien, Disasterpeace was hugely popular during the 2014-era years of mapping and beyond, with classic sets like I Am Only a Man hosted by Lust and Jolly Frolic hosted by Timorisu reaching astronomical levels of popularity for the time with over 3 million and a million plays respectively.

Favoring a unique blend of chiptune pep and textured ambience, much of Disasterpeace's work remains well-suited for mappers who wish to explore concept and development in their maps, with subtle rhythmic and melodic progression in each track lending itself well to more structured approaches to mapping. Higher BPM tracks like Jump Error favor more classic high-paced chiptune jaunts, for those who are more interested in playing with speed in their work.
