A new month is on the horizon, and with it arrives yet another mapping contest. Check out the finalists of last month and compete within this month's limitation!
For those uninitiated, the Monthly Beatmapping Contest (MBC) was revived for a new run in 2020. See the Monthly Beatmapping Contest wiki article for a quick recap.
Before diving into the details, we can't forget about voting for last month's contest!
With the novelty of "Wow! New mapping contest!" out of the way, February's contest received 50 submissions, which our team of experienced beatmappers shaved down to 10 finalists. Your job is to decide the winner by voting for your 3 favourite submissions!
Vote for last month's contest HERE! Results will be published in 2 weeks.
Anyway, onto March's contest!
As per usual, the timeline for this month's contest is as follows:
More details can be found on the Monthly Beatmapping Contest wiki article, as per usual.
The MBC features a new mapping limitation each month that participants must work within. Last month required all submissions to be at most 4.00 stars in difficulty, so any submissions higher than that were disqualified.
This month's limitation: no slider velocity changes.
Any inherited timing points (green lines in the editor) you use should be for hitsounding or kiai times only, and of course, BPM changes to adjust slider speed aren't allowed!
Given how frequently maps nowadays change slider velocity, catering to this limitation may be a bit annoying. To make things better though, we've chosen songs that call for a significant amount of slider speed changes! Sorry to say, but your suffering just makes the contest more fun.
Each MBC provides beatmappers a choice between 5 songs from one of osu!'s Featured Artists.
This month's artist is Sound Souler, and the following songs are viable for contest submissions:

Beatmap template download (2:20)
Beatmap template download (2:27)
Beatmap template download (2:33)
Beatmap template download (2:32)
So how do you participate? Submissions must...
.osz
format. This allows your entry to use custom hitsound files and a background of your choice, however storyboarded visuals will be removed from all submissions.Any entries breaking these rules will not be viable for the contest.
That'll do it for this month! If you plan on participating, head to the contest listing when you're ready to submit your entry. You have 3 weeks until submissions close.
And in case you still haven't yet, vote for the best 3 entries from last month's contest here!
Good luck and happy mapping!
