The first voting stage of Aspire V begins! Help us choose your favourites from several boundary-breaking beatmaps!
Earlier this year, we launched the new format for the Aspire contest. Our panel of category selectors have now put together 33 unique beatmaps into 9 categories for you to enjoy, each with a common theme amongst them. The team who put these categories together were pishifat, Zelq, Nuvolina, Feerum, Unpredictable, Yumeno Himiko, Doomsday, and jackylam5.
We have also put together short compilations of each category, consisting of 45 second clips of each beatmap. These are designed to give you a short preview of each beatmap without revealing all they have to offer - we strongly recommend downloading the maps yourself to enjoy in game (it’s definitely worth it).
You can watch snippets of all entries in all major categories via this link.
Our first category is the Slider Maestro category, featuring osu! beatmaps where sliders have been exploited and pushed to the extreme, representing their chosen song in innovative ways.
Next we have the Player’s Pick category. This category focuses on osu! beatmaps that display creative ideas, alongside challenging but reasonable gameplay experiences that still manages to represent the song.
The 2B category focuses, as the name suggests, on osu! beatmaps with “2B” gimmicks, where several objects appear at the same time. These beatmaps have used these gimmicks to enhance gameplay, as well as showing off stunning visual effects.
The final osu! category is the Innovative Storyboarding category. We only have four beatmaps for this category, but each of these beatmaps use storyboarding in an attempt to take gameplay and visuals to the next level.
The first of our mixed mode categories is the Song Title category. Each of these beatmaps heavily represent the title of the song they have chosen in a variety of different gameplay and visual methods.
Beatmaps in the Unique Mechanics category show off novel gameplay mechanics that are only possible by disregarding the ranking criteria, all without the use of a storyboard.
We also have an Innovative Storyboarding category for the maps that aren’t using the osu! mode. Each of these beatmaps completely change up the game modes they were built in through the use of storyboarding.
Aspirable Fruits is a category dedicated to osu!catch beatmaps. Each of these maps are sure to be a challenge for the fruit catchers out there who want something different compared to the standards of the ranked category.
Our final category is the Manipulation of Time category. A first in Aspire history, each of these osu!mania beatmaps use extreme timing point manipulation to create very impressive visual effects, as well as offering a challenge to all key smashers.
The voting page for each of the categories can be found below, as well as download links to their respective zip files:
Voting for all categories will be open for 14 days from this post, where the top two most voted entries of each category will move on to the next stage of the contest, as well as being guaranteed a prize.
Best of luck to all entrants, and we hope you all enjoy the beatmaps.
